(BP) Giveaway Time with Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Shortening - USA & CANADA

Its Giveaway Time with
Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Shortening.
Giveaway Open to USA/CAN 18+ Ends July 20th 2012.
Good Luck

This week in my pursuit to immerse myself in everything Tropical Traditions ** Because I Love It** I received a pail of Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Shortening.

Oh I hear it now from you all... OH the horror hydrogenated palm shortening.. Its bad for you... It reminds you of Crisco..

Ok now breath a huge collective sigh of relief.. this is not at all the same as Crisco & the stuff in this bucket is very much different from most lards and hard firm fats you see on the market.

Lets give you the goods on Tropical Traditions organic palm shortening.  NOTE the word organic..

A bit of history on the production and sustainable farming used in making Tropical Traditions palm oil.
Tropical Traditions palm oil is a mix of saturated & unsaturated fatty acids with most of the saturated fat being of the monounsaturated fat.  This palm oil is produced with the strictest of standards by farmers who meet specific ProForest status.  During the process of producing this organic shortening all of the trans fat has been removed, the oil is again NOT hydrogenated and is not prone to rancidity.  Tropical Traditions palm shortening is also colorless, odorless and has no effect on the outcome & taste of foods baked with it.   If taste is what your after their are other alternatives such as Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil. Another big benefit for me is it has a high melting and smoke point of 97 degrees.

A recap of the benefits of this organic shortening :
  • NO hydrogenation
  • NO Transfats
  • Strict Standards are followed and have to be ProForest Certified
  • High melting point of 97 degrees
  • Sustainable Farming
For more information on the benefits of this oil and to learn more about this fabulous environmentally responsible company head on over too : Tropical Traditions the best place to get Virgin Coconut Oil

I also recommend watching this video.. You'll learn more on why you use choose Tropical Traditions and why its a good choice in your homes :

and now for my first recipe I'm thinking I might try the Coconutty Halibut recipe from their recipe collection seen here > Tropical Traditions Recipe Collection  I am a big big lover of Fish & Chips and its a delicious treat for a once in a blue moon occasion.  I think last night was a blue moon.. High Time I get cookin.
